Professional development is key to improving skills as teacher-librarians at Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools across Kazakhstan. During the week of April 22 - 26, International and local teacher-librarians came together for workshops to share best practices. International staff presented seminars on Story Telling, Research Models, Classification Systems, Literacy and the Library, Collaborative strategies, and Development of a School Library Association, among other important issues in librarianship. Later in the week local librarians were introduced to Professor Vadim Stepanov, professor of Department of Electronic Libraries, Information Technology and Systems of the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts, PhD. He shared his expertise in Web Design and digital resources.
This seminar was designed to improve teaching and librarianship skills amongst NIS librarians, within the mandate to create 21st century libraries and services for our students and staff.
